WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This program is designed for mid-upper-level engineering, scientific and technical executives in management positions within their organization. Participation in the LDP for STM provides participants with the all-important advantage for continued success in their career. This unique, highly immersive program combines live and virtual classrooms and on-the-job education for an equivalent of 16 days of leadership development spread across a three month period. The program’s schedule flexibility provides busy executives the continuity to pursue their current job assignments while providing an opportunity to return to school to learn the advanced management skills needed to successfully lead their technical teams. Companies that participate range from Small-to-Medium Enterprises to large corporations.
With LDP for STM’s far more effective approach, managers will spend a total of 10 days (three to four days at a time spread over a three month period) at the Rady School’s beautiful San Diego campus participating in highly interactive classroom and group discussion settings. This experience is combined with the program’s immersive, workplace-focused learning assignments. Taking this interactive approach, participants gain the equivalent of an additional six to seven days of leadership development while continuing to work on their current job assignments. The two intersessions may include, but are not limited to virtual hands-on components such as Myers-Briggs assessment, customer value assessment, brand image determination, business challenge brainstorming, supply chain value considerations and ROI Analysis. As opposed to the old style, continuous format, this approach allows new knowledge and skills to be tried and tested in the workplace immediately. Any challenges encountered during implementation can be remedied in real-time during the next on-campus session. This methodology provides a far deeper assimilation and lasting application of developmental learning.

Applicants must have 8 to 10 years of work experience and professional achievement and be sponsored by their companies. They must currently be in or recently promoted to a leadership position within their organization overseeing engineering, information technology, scientific and other technical initiatives. Other critical department leads such as Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Operations and candidates from other departments are welcome to apply, though admissions are limited and applicants must show strong interactions with the technical areas of their firms.
Prospective participants must submit an online application. Each program is limited to 30 participants, so it is highly recommended that an application be submitted as soon as possible.
All course work is delivered in English so written and oral proficiency is essential.
HOW TO APPLY
Prospective participants may submit their application materials online and at any time BEFORE the application deadline of March 14, 2014. Applicants will receive an email confirmation of the receipt of their application materials within four days of receipt. Applicants will be informed of their admission status by April 1, 2014.
