About the Program

Effective communication is vital to every successful business. Whether building team relationships or presenting business plans to potential investors, successful businesspeople portray confidence and inspire others to follow.

Techniques actors use to overcome stage fright and create exciting performances can be used by others to communicate effectively, build stronger teams and increase confidence and leadership skills.

Instructor

Rebecca Johannsen is currently the artistic director of Stone Soup Theatre Company, which she co-founded in 2001. She is preparing to defend her dissertation to complete her Ph.D. in theatre through a UC Irvine/UC San Diego joint doctoral program. She has a master’s degree in theatre from San Diego State University and a bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Cruz in anthropology. In addition to her extensive acting training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Ms. Johannsen has worked extensively in marketing and public relations for the SDSU department of drama, La Jolla Playhouse and CRM Learning.

Ms. Johannsen currently teaches theatre and film at UC Irvine and MiraCosta College. She has produced, acted and directed extensively throughout San Diego for over 25 years. Her work with Stone Soup Theatre Company has been widely praised by critics and fans alike, and recently received a grant from the County of San Diego to continue bringing high-quality productions to local stages.
