Williams Ettouati, Ph.D.

Williams Ettouati is the director of industry relations and development as well as an associate clinical professor at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) at UC San Diego.  His primary role is to develop and implement creative strategies to strengthen and secure significant alliances with pharmaceutical, biotech and health care corporations and the SSPPS faculty. He also works to develop and implement funding strategies for scholarships and business development initiatives through industrial and philanthropic partners, alumni and supporters of SSPPS.

Prior to joining UC San Diego in October 2007, Dr. Ettouati worked in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries for 20 years, holding senior-level positions in general management, marketing, new product planning, business development and finance. He is currently a strategic advisor to CEOs and boards of many private and public biotechnology companies. In addition, he co-founded and served as president and chief executive officer of three biotech companies (ManoaBioSciences, GeneProt and Ceptyr), where he raised substantial amounts of capital from private and public institutions and secured strategic alliances ranging from target discovery to mergers and acquisitions. He received his Doctorat d’Etat en Pharmacie at l'Université René Descartes in France and a master’s degree from UC Santa Barbara in pharmacology in Dr. Robert Jacob’s lab.
