How do I make a gift?
There are several ways to make your gift to the Rady School of Management. You may donate by cash, check or credit card. If you are an employee, you can also use payroll deduction. For more information, visit Ways to Give
What about matching funds from my employer?
Matching gift programs can dramatically increase the impact of your gift to UC San Diego. Many employers offer matching funds that may double or triple any charitable contributions made by their employees. Click here to see if your company participates in this program.
Are there fees associated with contributions?
The university assesses a 6 percent fee on donations to support external relations programs designed to further the university’s base of support. This is among the lowest rate for any UC campus and is well below the amounts assessed on donations by many nonprofits for administration.
Is my gift tax deductible?
The UC San Diego Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation. Your gift qualifies for a tax deduction in accordance with IRS regulations during the calendar year that you make your gift. You will receive a gift receipt for your files. Consult your tax professional for more information.
What is an endowed gift?
An endowment is a permanent fund that earns annual interest income through the endowment pool of the UC San Diego Foundation. The income earned is then used for the purpose specified by the donor. Since the principal is never used, the endowment remains in perpetuity.
How do I set up an endowment?
To establish an endowment, which may be named as a legacy to the donor or in honor of a loved one, please contact the Rady School Development and External Relations Office at 858. 822.0370 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is a current gift?
A current gift is a contribution that can be put to use by the Rady School immediately upon receipt from the donor. They include cash, gifts of securities and property and matching gifts.
How can I use securities to support the Rady School?
Gifts of common stocks, bonds, mutual funds or other appreciated securities may be made to the Rady School. Depending on the circumstances, the securities will either be managed or liquidated to achieve the donor’s goals. A popular benefit of such a gift beyond the charitable income tax deduction is that, in most cases, capital gains tax on the appreciation of the securities can be avoided.
Can I donate gifts of property?
Real estate gifts and many other properties of value may be given to the Rady School. These gifts can often receive the same tax treatment as gifts of securities – no capital gains tax plus deductibility at fair market value.
How does my company become a Rady School corporate sponsor or partner?
Many opportunities exist for your company to sponsor Rady events and initiatives. Corporate partners enjoy benefits such as invitations to Rady School events and opportunities to network with MBA students.
