Which ideas are worth taking to market? Which opportunities should you pursue? Some innovations can drive companies...some are worth developing far enough to license or create a joint venture or strategic partnership...some will be great new product or service launches...and some should be dropped.
For managers in established or emerging companies, the challenge lies in translating ideas into market success. Lab to Market (L2M) provides the skills you need. More than a single course or a simulated exercise, L2M is an experience in spotting new opportunities and taking discovery to market. You learn to generate and assess ideas, distinguish which are feasible, evolve them into products and businesses and identify business models that will translate opportunities into viable businesses.
This L2M three-course sequence begins in the classroom and moves into a project-based environment. You tap into ideas from companies, gain exposure to commercialization opportunities at leading research institutes — including various UC San Diego labs — or develop ideas drawn from the expertise and creativity of your classmates. Students work in teams, alongside faculty and business experts and coaches.
